Our getaway...ALONE!

Dean and I were able to get away for 2 days by ourselves...the first time since Kate was born. My mom generously offered to watch Kate and we headed up to Lake Geneva's Abbey Resort. We had a great time. Perfect distance...perfect amount of time...everything we needed.

View from our patio.

Having a leisurely morning drinking coffee, reading the paper, and doing Bible study. So nice.

Another view of the harbor from our room.

Laying by the pool reading and relaxing!

Happy 9th anniversary!!

Few random pictures...

A little friends who comes around quite often...the cardinal.

Grandma Kohl's new puppies!

My mom's dog Cana just had nine puppies. We went over the day after they were born for a visit. Kate got quite a kick out of the squirmy squeaky little pups.

She loved that they had their own swimming pool!

She was instructed to just pet them with one finger.

Giving one a kiss.

4th of July BIG family party

Dean's mom hosted a huge family fourth of July party. We arrived a few days before the festivities began and went to a petting zoo and spent time with family. We had beautiful weather and a great time catching up with the whole family.

Kate and Grandma Laffin. Kate loved this bike.

Petting and feeding the baby goats. So cute and soft.

Say cheese! Auntie Angie keeping watch so Kate didn't strangle the baby bunnies.

Kate, Grandma Laffin, and a Zebra.

Cousin Maggie and her shadow Kate.

The craziness begins in the kitchen!

Playing with cousins in the sandbox.

After an unsupervised moment. Soaking wet and full of sand.

Happy 4th of July!

Waiting for the fireworks. Come on Uncle Corey!

Good job Uncle Corey and Uncle Jerry!

Carnival

We went to the Palatine 4th of July carnival with our friends and new neighbors the Watschke's. Although terribly overpriced it was fun to go on a few rides and get some cotton candy.
