Bye to the puppies!

This day was the last time Kate would see the puppies before they went home. Very cute but getting loud, stinky, and scratchy!

The only safe place to stand to get away from their sharp claws and teeth! The pool contraption was my dad's invention to keep the puppies in.


Kate's hair looks a little crazy as she just got out of the pool.

First Haircut!

Kate just got her first haircut. We went to a fun place called Kid Snips where she got to sit in a car and watch a DVD of her choice. The choice of course was Dora. She didn't get a whole lot cut off but just had it evened out. Afterward she got a prize from the treasure chest and a certificate for her first haircut. The lady who cut her hair asked if she could have "sparkles" in her hair to which I said "why not?" BIG MISTAKE! Even after two baths they are still in her scalp, all over the car seat, her bed, our couch and us! Dean was made fun of at his meeting that night as he spoke in front of 30 people with sparkles on his face. What I didn't realize is that getting sparkles involved getting a salt shaker with very fine glitter sprinkled heavily on your head! NEVER AGAIN!!

Big girl room!

Kate's big girl room is done! After alot of sweat and work it turned out fantastic. We are so happy with the results. It wasn't as simple as just painting the color and decorating. Dean had to repair the walls, prime and paint all the trim, paint the ceiling, and the walls. We still need to paint the doors white (when I say we I mean Dean). We unveiled the room to Kate this morning after keeping it a surprise all week. She loves it and played in there all morning. She asked to take her nap in there and is currently sleeping in there right now!! We'll see how it goes but so far so good!


Closet still needs doors but check out the closet organizer Dean built!



Satisfied "big girl".


This is the most fun part! Her new bookshelf/dollhouse. It was her 1st birthday gift but never got set up due to moving etc.

August fun

One of our many swim days. Our friends Jake and Ella Stauss. Kate is a total fish and goes under water and is very daring. Which I guess is better than being fearful but I have to keep a close eye on her!


Went to a horse show that our friend Alyssa was in.


Dean set up his drum set in the basement and a play area for Kate. She loves playing the drums...not sure how I feel about that but it is fun!

Movie Night

Our first family popcorn and movie night! Dora The Explorer was the movie of choice!
